  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
  • 1 sprig of curry leaves
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder (as per taste)
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 cup water
  • salt to taste

Mix the fish pieces with turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt in a bowl.

Let the fish marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Heat oil in a pan on medium flame. Add mustard, cumin, and fenugreek seeds. Let them explode.

Add chopped onion and fry until golden brown.

Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for 1-2 minutes until the raw smell disappears.

Add curry leaves and green chilies to it and mix well.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and the oil separates.

Add coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Add coconut milk and water. Boil the mixture lightly.
